This laid-back, supportive class is designed to strengthen both your painting skills and your ability to express emotion through art. With an emphasis on landscape, Laura introduces approachable drawing and painting techniques in an easy-to-follow setting where students can experiment, develop their skills, and build confidence.

​

At its heart, this is a therapeutic and creative wellness class—a space to slow down, focus, and use the process of making art as a way to explore personal expression. The emotional and technical sides of painting are deeply intertwined: as you become more comfortable with your materials and develop stronger painting skills, you also gain more freedom to communicate your own feelings, experiences, and perspective through your work.

Each week, we’ll paint something new together. Landscapes are a frequent focus, but we’ll also explore still life, the figure, and other fun painting projects. Students will have the opportunity to work individually with Laura for personalized guidance, helping you strengthen your ability to create more successful paintings while also discovering your own artistic voice and style.

 

Rather than trying to learn everything in a single workshop, students have the time and consistency to practice, reflect, experiment, and gradually see their skills develop. Returning each week creates a rhythm of creative practice that can be both grounding and motivating, while allowing students to build on what they learned previously and gain confidence over time.

This is a class in creative confidence—learning how to draw and paint better while becoming more connected to your own creative process. Students will learn new ways of approaching painting that resonate personally and will be encouraged to develop techniques and habits that support their individual artistic journey.

Students are welcome to work in the painting medium of their choice, although acrylic is recommended.

​

Suitable for beginning and continuing students. Teens welcome!
