Alchemy in the Mountains
Over the last ten years I have been traveling throughout the united states collecting and creating a mineral pigment library, mostly composed of hematites, ochre and shale. These pigments are a beautiful and unique addition to any artist's studio. Creating landscapes out of the actual earth is a heartfelt process that I cherish.
Information on current Palettes for sale
The pigments used for palettes on sale in my etsy store vary depending on availability and time of year.
The Catskills and Hudson Valley are coated with ochre- iron rich sediments that create beautiful earth toned paints. A The 2025 collection includes a red ochre from Hunter NY, and a red ochre from Shaftsbury VT. The two blue pigments are from a French pigment company. Ultramarine is the traditional hue, Mica blue is a lighter more metallic blue with Mica pigments.
